ocr: The Mongolians of Kazakh extraction are considered to be almost sub-human. Their Muslim religion accounts for the ridicule, and sometimes the fear, expressed by their neignbours. Since the re-opening of Mongolia's borders, many have returned back to Kazakhstan. The Kazakh family thatimet in the north of the country was perfectly peaceful... And perfectly Mongolian! We ate, drank, and sang, sitting under cover of the yurt. I had come to buy a goat, a bull and some airak, and came away with cirrhosis as well... albeit a very cheap cirrhosis. Price isn't really an issue in the countryside.
